Automated Shipping Systems
Overview
Most companies that ship a volume of packages via UPS, Fedex, or US Mail are familiar with manifesting stations where an operator weighs, scans, labels and verifies shipments. Once package volumes reach a point where a person is semi-dedicated to these tasks, it usually makes sense to consider some type of automation. With systems starting under $45,000, the technology is more affordable than ever and can allow you to reduce your direct labor costs.
System Example 1
In the first example the customer utilized a PrintFeeder solution to automate packlist print and insert with a manual printer for exceptions and as a backup. With two operators, the system is gated to roughly 10 cases per minute by the manual void fill and semi automatic taper. The product is checkweighed and dimensional scanned for carrier rate shopping. The ship label is then applied and verified and the package is manifest with the carrier. Downstream sortation devices provide carrier sortation and cull out exceptions for manual processing.

System Example 2
In the second example, parcels are closed and taped at pack stations. After checkweighing and optional dimensioning, the package enters a pocket labeling area. The first labeler applies the packlist and after rate shopping, the second label applies the shipping label on top of the packlist. Downstream sortation devices provide carrier sortation and cull out exceptions for manual processing.

Our systems are modular allowing us to configure them to fit your specific requirements, and leverage equipment you may already have. As your business grows, they can be expanded. They are build and integrated completely off-site, enhancing our ability to provide an extremely quick installation (typically a day or less) so that you are up and running quickly. Most installations are completed over a weekend with customer receiving benefit at start of business on Monday.
