Automatic Case Cutters
Our Robotic Case Cutters have grown out of a desire to make cutting open cardboard boxes faster, safer and with reduced product damage. They utilize a dimensioning system to allow for random sized cases, then a SCARA or Cartesian robot to provide extremely precise cuts (.01 inch) saving both operator injuries and inadvertent cutting of product.
Case Cutters may a single infeed and discharge and a maximum throughput of approximately 600 cases per hour with a 3-sided cut. A second tunnel can be used to increase overall throughput of the system.
We typically see 1.5 to 2-year simple payback on direct labor alone for operations cutting 1,500 or more boxes per day. Often the safety considerations (carpal tunnel, blade cuts) or product damage reductions are additive to the labor savings. The parser-merger provides direction and sortation of products to better leverage the Case Cutter’s capabilities.
The unique cutting head allows for automatic blade changing to reduce maintenance time. The round head allows for an interference cut, allowing the Case Cutter to accommodate boxes that are out-of-square or otherwise imperfect. The Case Cutter is easy to operate and can be run as part of an automated system or a stand alone device. Remote 24/7 support is included with the machine.
Multiple types of cuts are possible. The controller can accommodate nearly limitless recipes which can be triggered manually or based on box size groupings, or even bar code identification.
