Low Speed Sortation

Urethane Belt Transfers (UBT)

Urethane Belt Transfers (UBTs) and similar devices such a belt transfers provide low-speed sortation functionality for many warehouse operations. UBTs and their kind are low cost and low performance. The Ermanco UBT has a design that sets it apart, such as parallelogram lift, special linear bearings, and roll-resistant urethane bands.

ERS UBT for Pick Modules

A special highly evolved kind of UBT is the ERS sorter, designed for pick modules and routing systems and probably the most optimized UBT available, able to reach sort rates of 35 per minute with small boxes. The ERS also performs this sortation economically by tilting the outboard roller sections slightly and leveraging the momentum of the package rather than using multiple transfers.

Pushers and Pullers

Although not normally thought of as sortation, various types of pushers can serve as low speed, low cost ways to separate product as for checkweigh exceptions, and carrier sortation and other applications. Pushers, such as shown below are typically used for rates up to 15 cases per minute, although in special applications they can handle much higher rates.

Pullers can be used as sortation devices. They can also be used for box alignment to enhance positioning for labeling and for dimensioning or box cutting applications.
